MNTV at Hardcastle Crags on Sunday 29th April 2018

Nine of us travelled to Hardcastle Crags at Hebden Bridage today to work with Nat, the Ranger.
The task was to improve their popular Red Route trail by scraping accumulated detritus off the old pack horse trail. Removing the mud down to the stones/rocks of the path, would make it less muddy for their numerous visitors.

It's always a great day when we're working with Nat and she kept us suitably entertained with her various tales, as well as educating us on the flowers, fauna and wildlife at Hardcastle Crags.
She took us down to the river to see some bees that had made their homes in the banks of the river but, unfortunately, by the time we got down there, the sun had gone in and the bee's had disappeared! It didn't stop us from making the occasion a photo opportunity!!

While we were working, a group walked past in fancy-dress. They were staff and their families from the local mortuary, who were fund-raising to help bereaved families. They were very happy to pose for a photo with us and we donated to their very worthy cause.

It was hard work shovelling the dirt all day, but we had a great time, and we managed to get more done than Nat expected which was a bonus! We're already looking forward to our next workday at Hardcastle Crags in June.
Tired, but happy after a job well done!
